Central Europe by train with InterRail — 8 countries, 37 days.
My way of traveling is to meet people! Let's use InterRail one last time before my 25th birthday.
I traveled by train with InterRail and I slept with people from CouchSurfing and one hostel.
It was so nice to spend time with people during my trip — THANK YOU EVERYBODY for hosting and sharing your time with me!
Why Central Europe? I didn't know the countries there and I wanted to discover them before the end of Europe… When I listen to the government in France and other countries, with people telling me they are thinking about leaving, I am scared to see the end of Europe :(
I started on the 14th of July and finished on the 19th of August in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland) at my cousin's place. I purchased a one-month InterRail pass which allowed me to take any train without paying more. I went to a lot of railway stations and took many different kinds of trains! I spent 1 to 4 nights in each city, as planned before the trip — with some surprises.
The good thing about traveling by train and being hosted by people is that you adapt: sometimes you have "too much time" and sometimes "not enough". You need to take the time to do basic things — watch people in the street, watch the landscape from the top of a tower. And sometimes you have to select what to do and just keep the essential. In both cases, it's your choice!
You can choose to eat or not (to spend more time in a museum, for example). I ate less than usual during this trip and it was enough! I didn't feel bad or sick — it made me understand I eat too much in France…
Nothing bad happens to you when you travel alone: your mind is strong and you can try everything! Even when you are cold or don't sleep enough, your mind is always ready to help you stay strong!
Traveling alone is the best way to meet people, to discover yourself and to learn a lot. Everybody should do it once in their life!
